"Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food" ...Hippocrates
Every time we eat or drink...

we are either fighting disease or feeding it. That is why it is so important to be conscientious about the source and quality of your food. If you eat out a lot, like i used to do, this can be a huge problem for ones health. Most restaurants DO NOT purchase and work with ingredients that are pesticide free, non-GMO, organic, and unprocessed. Most restaurants buy from low food cost giants like Cisco who offer shelf stable canned, dried and processed foods. Their fresh produce is conventionally grown with pesticides and. The fish and meat come from factory farms that use a ton of antibiotics, growth hormones, dyes and GMO feed. At the end of the day all that bad stuff gets passed along the food chain to us, the unknowing consumer. The poisoning of America is happening right now though our food chain!
My personal journey to healing...
I understand firsthand how much time it takes to eat for the purpose of healing. And I know that those changes start in your mind, then the pantry and fridge, then continue right to the grocery store. Change is good. Change your current habits and replace them with a new lifestyle that works for your body.
Throughout the years I have always considered myself very healthy, eating well with moderate to intense exercise. I have never had an illness more serious than a seasonal cold or occasional flu. However in 2010 I began experiencing some symptoms that were making me feel old. I was in pain and felt like something was "off" with my body. I had sleep problems, digestive issues, my skin was rashy and dry, I had low energy, brain fog and often debilitating migraines. I was prescribed a few pill by my MD, some steroid creams and more pills, but I was searching for a more comprehensive approach. I feel that drugs often do not "heal" but rather mask the symptoms, while your body is still struggling with the cause.
As usual I did a ton of research and booked myself at a retreat in Hilo Hawaii headed by a naturopathic doctor. The cleanse or detox program was all about a 100% VEGAN-RAW diet with NO SUGAR OR GRAINS and the addition of specific nutritional supplements, daily colonics, yoga, journaling and some lifestyle changes, (no coffee or alcohol). I had never eaten so much wholesome food, had so much energy and felt so satiated. By dinnertime I was not even hungry. The end result was a 15-pound weight loss, improved skin, and all the other medical conditions had vanished!
After Hawaii I continued the vegan-raw lifestyle for another 15 months then slowly integrated raw eggs and seafood, cooked quinoa and rice in to my diet. At the 18 month mark I began to play around with what is now the winning formula... an all organic, non GMO, gluten free diet consisting of 40% raw plant-40% cooked plant base with the remaining 20% being wild seafood, pasture raised eggs, organic and pasture raised dairy and wild game. No to sugar and yes to red wine as it contains cardioprotective properties like resversatrol, polyphenols, flavonoids and other nutrients. So it's like a superfood....right?
“If you don’t take care of your body, where are you going to live?”
After discovering which foods were making me tired, were not digesting properly and those that my body treated as enemies, I was able to slowly bring myself back to optimal health. By changing dramatically what I was "using as fuel", I no longer have any of the previous conditions that drove me to seek help. This transformative and healing experience has led me to want to help others to improve their health and energy.
